I’m Jesse "Jay" Smallwood, a Licensed Massage Therapist and Medical Massage Practitioner. My journey in therapeutic practice is supported by a B.S. in Exercise & Sports Science, with specialized study in biomechanics, nutrition, powerlifting, and bodybuilding. Prior to my massage career, I worked as an EMT, where I gained a firsthand understanding of human physiology in dynamic, real-world situations. Each of these experiences has contributed to my holistic view of the human body—how it’s designed to move, adapt, and respond to both external and internal challenges.
A Unique Approach to Medical Massage
I see the human body as a complex and resilient system, capable of amazing adaptation across a variety of movements and skills, from athletics to art. With a focus on structure and function, stability and mobility, my goal is to help clients restore and optimize their physical potential. Through my work in medical massage and manual therapy, I use the power of therapeutic touch to support healing, movement, and resilience.
As a therapist, I view myself as an educator. My role is not just to treat but to teach, helping clients understand how their tissue and fascia can function optimally. I use a multidimensional approach that integrates techniques from various disciplines, emphasizing mindful body awareness. This enables clients to regain and maintain freedom of movement through improved biomechanical patterns, neuromuscular facilitation, and adaptable load-bearing strategies.
Commitment to Quality and Continuous Learning
I believe that effective therapy is as much an art as it is a science, shaped by the therapist’s education, skills, and the quality of the client-therapist relationship. That’s why I prioritize clear communication, mutual respect, and accountability in every client interaction. Each day, I’m committed to delivering the highest quality of care, staying dedicated to improvement, and continuously expanding my knowledge. This commitment ensures that I can provide my clients with the best, most reliable results.
Thank you for considering me as a partner in your wellness journey. I look forward to working with you toward achieving lasting, real-world improvements in health and movement.
